Pinewood Derby!

First of all....while you read this post you should definitely be playing this song....

So as some of you might now our ward decided to do a Pinewood Derby not too long ago....Naturally, I was very excited to get a chunk of wood and build ourselves a fine, quality, high speed vehicle.

We sat down together and tried to think of what it is that we could make. But we decided that a pinewood derby shouldn't be all about speed. No. That is for goofy Boy Scouts. We wanted to add some class to the the Pinewood Derby. We wanted a car that would take its time on the track, something schnazzy, something swanky. A car that can go fast, but doesn't choose to.                        

                                             With the 1941 Hupmobile Skylark as inspiration....

and some leftover materials from some home projects we ended up with this beauty....

This classy modèle comes complete with

• Stained Rich Mahogany Stain and Polycrylic Finish
• Acrylic Painted White Walled Custom American Molded Fictile Plastic Tires. 
• Offset Racing Stripe
• Gold Leafed Hubcaps and Engine.
• To scale restored Inline Six Cylinders. 101 bhp. 

Here was the competition for the races. (please note the car equipped with switchblade....was originally for the demolition derby that had been planned as the finale)

As planned, we took our time on the track, allowing everyone to see her as she smoothly rolled down the slope.

Its not hard to see who the real winners were....
