don't spill the flour

Sunday, April 27, 2014
Okay so I might have had one of those what you would call "blonde moments" and Tanner wouldn't let me live it down. So the story goes, I filled out flour container to its maximum level without spilling an ounce. Proud moment.
Then I realized I was missing our 1 c measuring cup.

Dang it.
The cup was sitting at the very bottom of the just filled flour container.
I didn't want to dump it all out and make a mess so I attempted to retrieve the cup with some tongs. But to no avail, I couldn't do it. I was convinced we could still get it out without making too much of a mess or having to dump all the flour out.
Tanner took a try.

Because of Him

Monday, April 14, 2014
Oh the things you can learn from children. As Easter Sunday approaches, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has put together "Because of Him" initiative to share the message of hope that Jesus Christ has given to all. If you haven't already, check out the easter.mormon.org website.

--BECAUSE OF HIM--

Jesus is the Son of God, our Savior and Redeemer. Because of Him, death is not the end, and life takes on a new meaning. We can change, we can start over--and we can live again with God. This Easter celebrate His life and discover all that is possible
because of Him.

I just finished reading a blog post by my oldest sister relating the story of their little fish who recently passed away. To give you some back story, the fish was given to the oldest son during the time my sister gave birth to her 2nd, so that he could care for the fish while mommy cared for the baby. Betta had a good stretch of life but eventually picked up a disease that made him struggle to swim. My sister and brother-in-law knew it was time to explain to Bridger that Betta was going to pass on. As they related the bad news to him, the first thing that escaped his lips was,
"Well it's okay, because he will be resurrected." {tears welling in his eyes, lip quivering}

One evening my sister found Bridger in his room sobbing into his pillow.

"I thought at first he was joking/pretending, but then soon realized that this kid was really sad and upset about Betta. He wailed into his pillow as he lay in his dark room. He then started frantically looking through our CDs in search of the "perfect quiet music:" apparently, he wanted quiet music so Betta could be calm and rest. I felt as if I was witnessing a different culture and how they experience death. I was at a loss for words with Bridger; didn't quite know what to say to him and how to deal with this!

I picked Bridger up in my arms and rested on his bed. As we sat in the dark, we talked about Heavenly Father's plan of Happiness, and what Christ chose to do. Because of His sacrifice, the resurrection is a real thing and we can take hope that we will see our loved ones, pets included, once again."

Oh the faith of this little boy. No wonder Christ loved the little children; it's because they get it. The message of Christ is simple. He lives.

Let us always remember him.

Learning Letters

Wednesday, April 2, 2014
One Sunday Tanner and I, along with the other members of the Jensen side, were able to spend the afternoon at my sister's house. As the afternoon went on, slowly one after another of us fell into the Sunday nap tradition.

B and I were the last of the people awake as I got comfy on the couch; I too finally gave in to my heavy eyes. I was in the half awake-half asleep phase where you can hear things going on around you but aren't really conscience. I could hear drawers opening and paper crumpling and wondered what B was up to. Eventually I woke up to find this piece of paper gently resting on my lap.

Guess what letter this little guy learned this week? K for auntie Kristyn.

Tell me, how can this not melt your heart?
