punkin picking (with my punkins)

Wednesday, October 19, 2016
I finally understand what people mean when they say, "my baby is teething." That stuff has got to be brutal. Add a cold on top of that with mom wiping your nose all day, makes for one very long week (for all parties involved). What seemed like out of nowhere 4 bottom teeth made their appearance. Woo hoo! It's really cute that they are all different lengths so he is like our little real life jack-o-lantern.

Date night was spent in with take-out and a movie. I think we ended up watching 3 movies this past week alone. It was one of those weeks. We will be really sad if VidAngel doesn't stay in business (if you haven't tried them you should now). Anywho, we went punkin' picking as we promised we would from last year's experience. Little man wasn't sure about the goats but went nuts over the pumpkins. I'm already excited to take him again next year. The carving will have to wait until we get home from our much needed vacation in a few days. First time to the Evergreen State!

pumpkin spice smoothie

Wednesday, November 4, 2015
I'm one of those people that when fall comes around, everything I make has pumpkin in it. Jamba Juice offers a seasonal pumpkin almond milk smoothie that just hits the spot. Tanner had one sip and was asking to get one the very next day. He doesn't even like pumpkin. That's how good it is.

Rather then shelling out $5+ if we want one, I have a cheaper version for you to try.

Pumpkin Spice Smoothie

1/2 c pumpkin puree
1 1/2 c almond milk
1 T pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 c ice

Blend and enjoy.

all hail to the pumpkin song

Halloweeeen. It was our first time to pick a pumpkin from a pumpkin patch. We got there right as the sun was setting on a warm fall night. Got two pictures and then the camera died. Boo. We didn't even get a picture together. It was fine, we got to enjoy the evening going from pumpkin to pumpkin till we each found one. Fun fact: apparently pumpkin stems are poky, never knew that till now. As Tanner stated, "we are always going to a pumpkin patch, none of this getting our pumpkins at the store nonsense."

This year we both randomly went with a pirate theme for our carvings. I underestimated how difficult free handing would be on such a small pumpkin. At least Tanner's turned out pretty well.

We are serious about pumpkin carving.

Carving pumpkins with my little pumpkin. 35 weeks at that point.

Have always loved being able to dress up. I think I've convinced Tanner to love it just as much (if not more). Since I'm pregnant we decided to forgo our original costume idea to incorporate the bump. Who knows, this may be my only Halloween pregnancy? During our brainstorm sesh, we narrowed it down to the...drum-roll please... Pixar lamp (aka Luxo) and ball.

So glad our ward Halloween party and chili cook-off got moved so we were able to go. Swept the chili AND costume contest. I did not protest. Hooray $25 gift-card to the movies!
 The Pixar couples...
 The "trophy"

Glad we got invited to a party for Halloween night. One more chance to wear our costumes. Thanks to the Robins for throwing a fantastic party with lots of treats, games, and friends.

Think we pulled it off?
