stairs might be the death of me

Tuesday, February 21, 2017
We had a little get together at our friend's house (who do not have children). Three little boys all under the age of two went wild with the new space to explore. A question was posed to the parents in the room, "how do you know what needs baby proofing?" Within 30 seconds they so kindly pointed out all the things they shouldn't have access to. It's funny how quickly just letting your kid wander around will show you how to "baby proof" the area.

At home our space is pretty safe for Atticus to explore as he pleases (it is not safe however for certain items i.e. contents of drawers, dvd's, canned food, couch pillows, etc.). The downside is our home has a gazillion stairs. Atticus does well with stairs. He's only had a few tumbles in the beginning but overall he had them down. Since he recently started walking, for some reason he loves to go right up to the edge and just teeter over. His balance is decent but he's still a toddler...and man does he toddle. It is freaking. Me. Out.

The past month we've tried to teach him that he needs to sit down and go backwards. It doesn't seem to be clicking. Do I need to just relax and let him figure it out (even if that means the hard way)? If anyone has any suggestions on how to get him to understand (at least until he's more balanced), seriously I'm all ears.

It would be nice to take our pouf pillow barricade down soon, if not I think the panic I'm feeling because of these dang stairs is going to kill me.

I've never bought wipes until today

Wednesday, February 1, 2017
Feeling the mid-week blues after spending a glorious day with my boys. The best part of having a spouse's birthday is sharing in on the festivities. I  kept forgetting it wasn't my birthday we were celebrating. I mean getting to see La La Land (by the way it is AMAZING), sleeping in, making snowballs, eating pb & chocolate cake smash. Fingers crossed Tanner will share his giant box of Kinder Buenos.

Too bad today consists of something more along the lines of dishes, finishing the backsplash, sorting some boxes, blah blah blah. Why aren't birthday's everyday?

In other news, we are having another celebration of sorts. After [411] days, we have had to go and buy more wipes ourselves for the first time. I'm not even kidding you. The giant box gifted to us before A was born (and few other little packs) have finally run out after an entire year and then some. Am I the only one that thinks this is awesome? Cause I really do.

a beard - year in review

Tuesday, January 10, 2017
Didn't even make it to the year mark (which was approximately April 24). It was time he said. Things just felt right.

The beard did a lot this year. Graduated from college. Moved away from Provo. Wrestled some cows. Went swimming  multiple times at Seven Peaks. Celebrated a 3 year anniversary. Fed a baby his first solid food. Witnessed a sister and sister-in-law's wedding. Ran a couple relays. Had a first camping trip. Vacationed at Bear Lake and Seattle. Dressed up for Halloween. Celebrated a first birthday party. Got beardaments in the stocking. And above all, he became a deep sea fisherman. It's only been a week since the shave but it already seems like a distant memory.

It wasn't the beard we wanted. It was the beard we deserved. Maybe 2017 will be bring us Beard 2.0? Only time will tell.
