It's a Boy

Monday, January 4, 2016

Much to the dismay of many, we did NOT find out the gender beforehand.  It made people pretty grumpy to have to wait (#sorrynotsorry). Delayed gratification people. The most common response to that was either "I couldn't do it" or "you guys are crazy for waiting." I will tell you, I wouldn't have changed a thing. Waiting to find out was the way to go. Hands down.

We decided family had to wait to see the baby in person to find out the gender (and name). Talk about the ultimate gender reveal party. At least Tanner texted everyone to let them know baby had arrived and included this picture (side-note: look at all that dark hair).

Before we even got to our recovery room, family was anxiously waiting outside. It was such a happy time to share this new addition with both our families and just feel the happiness that he brought with him. It was very special for me to watch each person get to meet little Atticus.

Grandma & Grandpa S and auntie Katie were the first to arrive. They were pretty excited I think. Pleasant surprise since it's their first grandson.

Grandma & Grandpa J along with auntie Katrina patiently waited for their turn to meet Atticus next. This makes grandbaby #6 for the Jensen side. Each one holds such a special place in my father's heart. The next picture says it all.

Since not all of my siblings were able to come that night, after some convincing to not make them wait until the following day, we decided to facetime so they could "meet" the babe.

Thanksgiving brought more visitors including the rest of my siblings and bestie (along with her husband). There really is nothing better than a new baby.

Since Atti passed all of his tests we were given the option to leave the hospital within 24 hours. We decided to stay and take advantage of this time where we could just be. No errands to run, no laundry to wash, no dinners to make. Just the 3 of us connecting as a family during his first few days on earth. It was nice to just hold him and get to know him. Though we didn't have the typical feast (thanks to my family for at least dropping off us a plate of turkey dinner and pie), this has got to be my favorite Thanksgiving thus far. After all, we had so much to be grateful for.

Before checking out and heading home, we had a little mini "birth"day party. One he won't remember (especially since he slept through it all), but one his Dad and I will. Man do I love that kid. How could I not? Sigh.
